A report that surfaced Friday morning claiming Tom Brady could potentially serve a four-game suspension during the 2015 season has caused some anxiety among New England Patriots fans. But not to worry — multiple legal experts say there is no way that will happen.
There seems to be a sense that the NFL source who insists the Brady appeal will be heard before the end of the season is leaking information on behalf of the league. Sports Illustrated legal analyst Michael McCann, who recently explained why Brady will likely win his Second Circuit appeal, insists Brady’s 2015 season is safe.
This "source" doesn't make sense. NFL isn't seeking expedited review of Brady case. Appeal won't be heard till 2016. https://t.co/mVStxzmywy

Daniel Wallach, a federal court litigator and appellate attorney, shot down the initial report even more enthusiastically.
Hallucinogenic drugs are obviously in ample supply at NFL offices. Source is flat-out wrong. No decision this year https://t.co/zhi5u40I74

Facts: NFL has not asked 2nd Circ. to expedite #deflategate appeal and no briefs filed yet. No decision until 2016

Do the math: average duration of appeal in 2nd Circuit is 10 months and no briefs have been filed yet. Oral argument also must be scheduled.

More facts: Appeal in #deflategate was filed 3 weeks ago & NFL has not asked court to expedite or filed its initial brief yet. Ship sailed!
— Daniel Wallach (@WALLACHLEGAL) September 25, 2015
More facts: 3 briefs still have to be filed, no briefing schedule yet, oral argument must also be scheduled & court must write an opinion.

So much for that. Don’t be surprised if the NFL continues to play childish games like this with Brady, but the 38-year-old is not going to miss time in 2015 because of a Deflategate suspension.
