Scott Tolzien: Aaron Rodgers is like Michael Jordan in his prime

Aaron Rodgers

Aaron Rodgers is at the peak of his game, and his incredible level of play in recent years has earned him comparisons with the likes of Steve Young, John Elway and other legends of the game.

But what about legends of others games? Or, better yet, one of the most recognizable athletes in the history of sports?

After Green Bay’s convincing win over the Kansas City Chiefs Monday night, backup quarterback Scott Tolzien compared Rodgers to none other than Michael Jordan.

“I mean, to me, it’s like watching Jordan in his prime,” Tolzien told Jason Wilde of ESPNWisconsin.com. “He’s at the top of his game. He makes it all go.”

Rodgers has compiled a passer rating of 135.5 through three games. He is completing an incredible 73 percent of his passes and has thrown 10 touchdowns while not committing a single turnover. In terms of dominating their respective sports, Rodgers and Jordan have plenty in common.

“I think, and I just told him after the game, you can’t take for granted what he does. I think sometimes it’s just assumed that that’s how he’s going to play,” Tolzien added. “But he controls the game. He’s just in the zone. The game just seems really slow to him. The checks he makes, the way he controls the tempo, it’s his game.”

And remember, Rodgers is doing all this without Jordy Nelson — his favorite receiver. Despite losing Nelson for the season, No. 12 hasn’t skipped a beat.

Like Jordan, Rodgers has also proven that he can talk trash with the best of them. The only thing missing from Rodgers’ resume that Jordan has is multiple championship rings. If someone told you Rodgers wouldn’t win another championship for the rest of his career, you’d probably laugh in their face.

We wouldn’t blame you.
