The always fascinating Kristaps Porzingis has a new tactic for improving his game. He’s watching Usain Bolt videos to become a better runner.
The New York Knicks rookie has taken to studying videos of Bolt to improve his running technique, according to general manager Steve Mills.
“He is that diligent in terms of trying to understand every aspect of his body, every aspect of getting better and stronger,” Mills said, per the New York Post’s Tim Bontemps. “He’s a unique guy in that regard, and it will allow him to become the best player he can.”
It would be pretty easy to chuckle at this and dismiss it, and Porzingis is never going to run quite like Bolt, but there’s no harm in studying the technique of the best runner in the world to improve. Moreover, it’s another example of Porzingis’s commitment to making himself as NBA ready as possible, as he recently went this insane diet with the goal of gaining 15 pounds this offseason. If nothing else, he certainly seems determined to make himself as physically ready for the league as he possibly can.
