Victor Cruz suffers setback with calf injury

Victor-Cruz

The frustrations for Victor Cruz continued on Wednesday, as the New York Giants wide receiver left practice early after re-aggravating his calf injury.

Cruz made his official 2015 practice debut and was optimistic he would be able to play against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. Unfortunately, he has found himself on the shelf once again.

“Victor came out and tried to do individuals,” Giants coach Tom Coughlin told reporters, via Jordan Ranaan of NJ.com. “He felt the calf again and that’s all he did.”

That all but guarantees that Cruz will not be available for Sunday’s game, and it is not a good sign for his availability going forward.

Cruz appeared in just six games last season before suffering a ruptured patellar tendon in his right knee. There has been no mention of that injury recently, but the strained calf has been an issue since the summer.

If and when Cruz can return, he would give New York’s passing game a boost alongside a certain teammate who is known for making mind-blowing catches. However, it would be fair for Giants fans to wonder if they are going to see Cruz at any point this season given his inability to stay on the field. He has to be incredibly disappointed in Wednesday’s turn of events.
