Report: Robert Griffin III is disliked by several of his offensive linemen

Robert Griffin III

Robert Griffin III took one heck of a beating in a preseason win over the Detroit Lions last week, and a lot of that had to do with poor offensive line play. However, many of the hits were the result of Griffin not calling the right protections or being indecisive on his feet.

During his press conference on Thursday, RG3 indicated that the entire Washington Redskins team needs to do a better job of executing — himself included.

“We all look at the film and we don’t look at it and say, ‘Hey, it’s this guy’s fault, that guy’s fault,'” Griffin said. “We don’t point the finger or point the blame. You watch the film and you assess yourself. You say, ‘What can I do to make sure this doesn’t happen anymore.’ We’ve all done that.”

RG3 said numerous times that he always looks at how he needs to improve and never blames others, but a lot of people are waiting for him to come out and say something like “that’s on me.” That doesn’t seem to be Griffin’s style, and it may be rubbing teammates the wrong way.

ESPN’s Jason Reid later noted that he was simply pointing out what he has heard for quite some time, as reports about RG3’s teammates being frustrated with him are certainly nothing new.

If you watch our recap of the beating Griffin took last week, you’ll see that he looked lost on a lot of plays. Starting left tackle Trent Williams — who has defended RG3 in the past — did not play, which certainly didn’t help the Redskins.

For whatever reason, people don’t feel that Griffin takes enough responsibility when things go poorly. He was called out by a veteran teammate for that a couple of years ago, and it’s unclear how much has changed.

You can watch RG3’s entire press conference from Thursday below and decide if he’s holding himself accountable or not:
