Redskins charge non-season ticket holders $50 to use will call

As if the Washington Redskins didn’t already have enough negative press this week, now we have this.

FOX News producer Kara Rowland tweeted on Thursday that the Redskins charge non-season ticket holders $50 to leave tickets at will call:

It costs $50 to leave a ticket @ will call 4 someone if you aren't a season ticket holder. This is the last Redskins game I'll be attending.

The policy actually has been in place for years and is even stated on the team’s website, though it was only really brought to light Thursday by Rowland.

The Will Call windows at FedExField are provided as a service for Washington Redskins Season Ticket Holders. A $50 fee per envelope must be paid by all non-season ticket holders seeking to leave tickets for pick-up at the FedExField Ticket Office. Season ticket holders must present their account number and a valid photo I.D. to drop off tickets licensed to their account without incurring the charge.

BuzzFeed’s Lindsey Adler reached out to the Redskins about the matter and was told the policy is out of date and should not be listed on the team’s website:

That still does not answer the question about why the Redskins would charge fans so much money to use will call if they’re not season ticket holders. It seems to me you shouldn’t nickle and dime them for such simple things. Then again, these are the Redskins, and if they had their act together, they wouldn’t be the laughingstock of the NFL this week.
