Tony Romo has invested in a Dallas-based company called Fanwish, which will provide fans with opportunities to meet and hang out with players and coaches from the area’s professional sports teams. And how did Fanwish celebrate Romo’s decision to get involved?
With crownies, of course.
For those of you who have not seen Romo’s new DirecTV commercial, a crownie is a combination of a brownie and a cupcake. It’s something that “Arts and Craftsy Tony Romo” made during the ad spot. Observe:
The Fanwish launch party was held at Nick and Sam’s Steakhouse on Tuesday night. The idea behind the corporation is to have fans submit entries for a chance to meet players from the Cowboys, Mavericks and Stars. There will also be VIP packages available for purchase, with proceeds going to foundations chosen by the players and their teams.
“I can remember when I was young, just to be able to go to training camp and meet some of the football players up in Wisconsin, whether it was the University of Wisconsin or Green Bay or whoever at the time,” Romo told Jon Machota of The Dallas Morning News. “I think there was no opportunity to try, not that you could just go do it, but there’s a chance to sign up and people win. I think that’s pretty neat.”
Hall of Famer Michael Irvin and current Cowboys Jason Witten, Tyron Smith, DeMarcus Lawrence and J.J. Wilcox also attended the event, so we hope they enjoyed their crownies.
As for the DirecTV commercial, the Manning brothers are always going to take the cake when it comes to NFL quarterbacks doing ad spots for the satellite TV company. Sorry, Tony, but there was nothing you could have done to dethrone Peyton and Eli.
