Rex Ryan throws shade at Patriots RB Dion Lewis

Dion Lewis

Rex Ryan has himself a hot-shot new defense, so that means he is back to his big talking ways.

Already 1-0 after beating the Indianapolis Colts in his Buffalo Bills debut on Sunday, Ryan showed a lack of respect for a New England Patriots player in his press conference on Monday ahead of the Bills-Pats matchup in Week 2.

The former Jets coach says he wasn’t worried about running back Dion Lewis.

Maybe this is just a tactic by Rex to ensure his players don’t let Lewis’ skills getting into their heads, but it sounds more to me like he’s talking big and belittling a Pats player.

His attitude makes some sense, too. Lewis has been in the league since 2011, and until Thursday’s Week 1 breakout against the Steelers, he had only rushed for 171 yards in his career. Why would Rex consume himself with a virtually unknown player when his team just totally shut down one of the best offenses in the NFL? Between this and what he said about the Patriots in the offseason, New England is going to be plenty motivated for Sunday’s contest at Buffalo.
