New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady never appeared overly nervous as he fought the NFL in court over some slightly under-inflated footballs all summer. No. 12 was all smiles at practice and in his rare media appearances, but things supposedly weren’t going well for him at home.
There have been rumors about marital issues between Brady and his wife Gisele Bundchen in the past, but they were far more prominent during the 2015 offseason. According to a report from E! Online, they were not unfounded.
Sources reportedly told E! that Brady was difficult to be around while fighting a legal battle over Deflategate and that Gisele left the country on numerous occasions because of it.
“They had a very rough few months and the Deflategate scandal took its toll on their marriage,” an insider told E! News. “Tom was very difficult to be around and withdrawn. Gisele was supportive, but she also was frustrated with his stress level and anger. She felt like he was taking things out on her and not being fair.”
Another source claimed Gisele became “jealous and enraged” when that photo of Ben Affleck’s nanny — the one who supposedly broke up Affleck’s marriage with Jennifer Garner — wearing Brady’s four Super Bowl rings surfaced on Instagram.
“Gisele became jealous and enraged,” the source claimed. “She had a very serious conversation with Tom and, honestly, I didn’t know if things were going to work out between them.
“She went to Brazil for a week and that scared Tom a little bit. She also missed his birthday and the first few preseason games for the Patriots. She was definitely sending him a message that things had to change.”
Despite all that, Brady and Gisele appear to have returned to their fairy tale life now that Brady’s suspension has been vacated. Brady has said his marriage is “in a great place” and he and Gisele have been photographed out publicly together. Gisele was also in attendance last Thursday when the Patriots began their season with a win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
All is well with the Brady Bunch, thanks in part to U.S. District Court Judge Richard Berman. Let’s just hope that doesn’t lead to Mrs. Brady taking aim at Patriots receivers again down the road.
