When Arian Foster hurt his groin at the beginning of training camp, it looked like he would end up missing most of the season and not returning until November. Now it’s looking more and more like he might only miss a few games.
NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport said Sunday that Foster will not be placed on the Texans’ IR/designated to return list and that he could be back before the end of the month:
Good news for #Texans RB Arian Foster: Source says he’s not headed to IR/designated-to-return as was once expected. Could be back in a month

On Arian Foster: A torn groin was thought to keep him out to Nov. But surgery went well, he’s worked hard, now it could even be late Sept.

This backs up all the previous chatter about Foster. Reports a few weeks ago said the Texans back could return at some point between Week 2-4 of the season as long as he does not encounter any setbacks.
It goes without saying that this is fantastic news for Texans fans. Foster is the heart and soul of that offense and their best offensive weapon. Simply put: they cannot just plug in any other running back and expect to see the same levels of production that Foster generates. Having him in the offense along with DeAndre Hopkins will give the Texans some decent weapons to surround Brian Hoyer.
