Football is probably right up there amongst the most dangerous sports to officiate and on Sunday, poor line judge Gary Arthur got a big-time reminder of that.
In the first quarter of the Ravens-Broncos game, Arthur suffered a fractured collarbone on a sideline collision during a punt return.

The 16-year veteran was inadvertently trucked from behind by a Baltimore player and fell to the ground in a heap. Arthur had to be carted off and the Ravens confirmed the broken collarbone diagnosis on Twitter shortly thereafter. The game was continued with a six-man officiating crew.
It’s not the first injury that we’ve seen to a referee on a football field this month, though thankfully Sunday’s incident was unintentional rather than premeditated malice.
Hopefully, we see the 58-year-old Arthur back in action soon.
