It took J.J. Watt less than a full half of football on Sunday to begin his campaign for Defensive Player of the Year. His first victim was Alex Smith.
Watt made his first sack of the season without a helmet on, as it popped off while he was rushing the passer and took a shot to the facemask. There was a flag for illegal use of hands to the face on the play, but Watt didn’t seem to mind.
We know one young lady who was extremely impressed with that play from Watt. The sack gave Watt a sack in six straight games dating back to last season, which is the longest streak of his career. We expect plenty more of that going forward.
