Jason Pierre-Paul and the New York Giants appear to disagree about whether the 26-year-old defensive end is close to returning to the field.
As you know, Pierre-Paul lost a finger in a 4th of July fireworks accident. There have been conflicting reports regarding how it will affect his play, but the fact that he recently met with the Giants and did not sign his franchise tender is not a good sign. That said, Pierre-Paul seems to believe he is in playing shape.
I can't think of the last time my index finger got me a sack

For what it’s worth, JPP reportedly lost a portion of his thumb in addition to the index finger on his right hand. He shared a workout video on Instagram earlier this week, but there has to be something that has the Giants discouraged.
This isn’t the first joke Pierre-Paul has cracked about his fireworks mishap on Twitter, although the last one was much funnier. The reality of the situation is that JPP is not going to sign his tender until he is cleared to play, and the Giants may not be confident that he will be ready this season. That could result in the situation getting even messier before it is resolved.
