BYU defeats Nebraska on last-second Hail Mary (Video)

College football has returned to us in all of its glory. But somehow the whole spectacle just wouldn’t be quite as glorious without the resplendent last-second Hail Mary to win the game.

On Saturday, the BYU Cougars did their part towards providing us with our fill, defeating the Nebraska Cornhuskers in miraculous fashion at Memorial Stadium.

Down 28-27 with one second remaining on the clock and the ball at the Nebraska 41-yard line, backup quarterback Tanner Magnum, pressed into action by the injury to starter Taysom Hill, took the snap, rolled out to the right, uncorked a 50-yard heave to the endzone, and prayed.

His prayers were answered.

Amidst a sea of red jerseys, receiver Mitch Matthews managed to come down with the ball for a touchdown and a 33-27 BYU victory, as Cougars head coach Bronco Mendenhall ran around like a kid on Christmas morning.

Welcome back college football.
