Brian Wilson planning on MLB comeback next season

Brian Wilson beard

If you missed seeing Brian Wilson’s bearded face this season, don’t worry: the eccentric relief pitcher may soon be back in MLB.

Yahoo Sports’ Tim Brown reports that Wilson will begin working out and throwing soon with the intention of making a comeback next season:

Though Wilson did not play this season, he will only be 34 next year and should have plenty of innings left to help a club.

Wilson pitched well for the Dodgers in late 2013 upon recovering from Tommy John surgery and earned a $10 million contract for last year. He also had a player option in that deal and picked it up for $9.5 million this season, so he was paid big bucks despite being released by the Dodgers after a poor 2014 campaign.

Given his age and potential, we imagine several teams will be interested in him and at least give him an invitation to spring training. He’ll probably be pitching in someone’s bullpen next season, which is great, because we miss great stories like this from him.
