Blake Bortles tried to give an analogy to explain how difficult playcalling is in the NFL, but he ended up insulting fans instead.
According to The Florida Times Union, the Jaguars quarterback was trying to compliment his offensive coordinator Greg Olson and make a point about how tough playcalling is in the NFL. And then he made a poorly received analogy about fans who criticize the play calls.
“I don’t know, it’s like a kindergartener saying something to a college kid,” Bortles said.
If that isn’t a putdown to the fans — intended or not — then I don’t know what is.
NFL fans may not be as savvy as some coaches or players, but I can tell you one thing, Bortles: We’re all smart enough to know that if you don’t pick up your play, you’ll be out of a starting job before long. That’s something we can all agree on.
