The Brian Hoyer era in Houston didn’t get off to the best start, to say the least.
Hoyer was benched on Sunday after turning the ball over twice inside the Texans’ 15-yard line. He was eventually replaced by Ryan Mallett during the fourth quarter. Now, head coach Bill O’Brien isn’t saying who is going to start the team’s next game.
OBrien "I'm not going to make a big quarterback announcement today. You'll have 2 wait 4 the first play of the Carolina game 2 see."

O'Brien said he knows who his starting QB will be but won't say.

Mallett led the Texans on a 59-yard scoring drive after coming in that ended with a touchdown pass to DeAndre Hopkins. He ended up completing 8-of-13 passes for 98 yards. Hoyer was 18-of-34 for 236 yards with one touchdown, one interception, and one fumble.
Hoyer started 13 games for the Browns last season and completed 51 percent of his passes for 2,404 yards with nine touchdowns and nine interceptions. The team went 7-6 when he started. Mallett has only started two games in his NFL career, both coming last season for the Texans.
Bill O’Brien certainly isn’t in the most enviable of positions. He can go with a guy will little experience at the professional level or a guy who the Texans signed to a two-year deal in the offseason with a bit more of track record. While O’Brien reportedly knows who we will see (first atleast) this coming week, the rest of us will just have to wait.
