Melvin Gordon has some great support in the form of his mother, but that does not mean he has won over her full endorsement just yet.
Gordon’s mother, Carmen, regularly attends San Diego Chargers’ practices and has been giving feedback to the rookie running back. She knows that he will have to adapt to the new league.
“This is a new game, and he’s got to learn it. This is what they do for a living, so you either have to sink or swim,” she said via ESPN.
Carmen also says she will not wear her son’s jersey just yet. First he has to earn it.
“You’ve got to show me a little something, but it won’t be this year. So you might see me in the stands, but I won’t have the jersey on,” she said. “I did the same thing in college because I just want to hear what people are saying.”
Tough crowd. We’re guessing it won’t be too long before Carmen starts wearing her son’s jersey. She did the same thing when Melvin was at Wisconsin, and he ended up leading the country in rushing yards and touchdowns as a senior. He’ll show her something before long.
