3 Things to Know About Before Remodeling Your Bathroom

Content originally published and Shared from http://perfectbath.com

Giving your bathroom a new look for the upcoming new year is a great way to indulge yourself after the busy schedule you’ve had during the holidays. But before you proceed on your plans, here are some pointers to consider:

Consider how long you won’t be able to use the bathroom
“How long does a bathroom renovation take?” Many people are surprised when they hear that a quality bathroom renovation takes about four weeks. Renovation shows are not reality!

Many people don’t have a spare bathroom they can use while the renovation takes place. If that’s the case for you, plan ahead. Hire a portable toilet or shower from a reputable builder, join a nearby gym (there are often free trials you can take advantage of) or consider renting elsewhere for a month while the job is done. None of these are ideal, but if you’re going to build a bathroom to last 20 to 30 years, that month of inconvenience will quickly be forgotten when you step inside Source: Houzz

Don’t forget to update the fixtures
No renovation is complete without remodeling or repairing fixtures and features, which could very well make a separate checklist themselves: shower, bathtub, toilet, bidet, sink, faucets and shower heads. You should also update or repair your mirrors and shower doors. You can also change the look of your bathroom very easily by changing out door handles, drawer pulls and the hardware for your shower doors. If you have the budget a new set of shower doors can completely change the look of your room. Source: Freshome

Order fixtures ahead of time
Regardless of whether you are buying from a high-street store or a high-end brand, factor in delivery times. Big name manufacturers might take three or four weeks to deliver, while luxury brands can take around eight weeks. Any custom products will take longer so give yourself plenty of wriggle room to avoid having contractors twiddling their thumbs on site. Source: IdealHome

IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS BEFORE BUYING AN INFRARED SAUNA

Content originally published and Shared from http://perfectbath.com

If you’re in the market for an infrared sauna, there are several key considerations to make to ensure you select the perfect sauna for your home

Numerous health gurus, fitness experts and medical doctors all agree – saunas, specifically infrared saunas, can deliver a whole host of important health and wellness benefits for people of all ages. From chronic illness to minimizing stress, improving the effectiveness of a workout to cleansing and purifying the skin, modern saunas combine today’s leading technological innovations with centuries-old wellness principles to deliver real, tangible health benefits for the sauna enthusiast. If you’re considering buying an infrared sauna for your home, make sure you ask the following questions:

  • What type of heating system is best?

Traditionalists will always seek a way to tout the benefits of a “hot-rock-and-steam” sauna, but the majority of new saunas produced today are outfitted with infrared heating elements – not the old-school heaters that create extraordinary amounts of steam within the sauna. Near-infrared and far-infrared only heating elements are available, but saunas that use Full Spectrum Infrared (near, mid and far infrared) are generally considered the best. This heating system promotes sweat and deep-body infrared wave penetration to eliminate toxins as efficiently as possible. One of the biggest benefits of an infrared sauna versus the traditional sauna is the lower operating temperatures afforded by the infrared heating element.

Discount Sauna benefits

  • What size sauna should I be looking for?

This obviously depends on your intended use. If you will mostly be using the sauna by yourself, a compact sauna model might seem like the logical choice. Many health-minded individuals use their sauna as a contained exercise room. You can add a different dimension to your yoga routine by doing it in a sauna, or add a twist to other exercises in your repertoire. Bottom line? Select a sauna that fits your home and your lifestyle, but make sure to account for future needs when narrowing down the overall dimensions.

  • What are the real-world health benefits of an IR sauna?

Your new infrared sauna will provide a host of tangible health and wellness benefits, with the eight most important sauna health benefits being:

  • Muscle pain relief
  • Immune system boost
  • Weight loss and increased metabolism
  • Detoxification
  • Joint pain and stiffness relief
  • Improved appearance of cellulite
  • Reduction in fatigue and stress
  • Improved skin tone and clarity

  • What kind of warranty does my sauna include?

Though a warranty is only one part of the equation, you’ll want to investigate the company and the warranty offered with each sauna. The warranty should cover the heater, electrical system, controls and other peripherals. Better companies will even cover accessories like audio and chromotherapy systems. Also, determine if the warranty will cover the sauna if the unit is used in a commercial location. If you’re looking for a new sauna for your office or commercial building, this is an important consideration. Most warranties are designed for home use and provide coverage in normal operating modes. Spend some time online, and research any consumer’s feedback of the company, including warranty-related issues.

When researching buying an infrared sauna for your home or office, there are various models available for your consideration that will perform admirably and last for years to come. Beauty Saunas Infrared Saunas are wildly popular today and combine several unique benefits for the discerning shopper. Beauty Saunas combine Full Spectrum Infrared heaters with kiln and air-dried wood structures for superior durability and performance. Far Infrared Saunas can also be enhanced with a number of options, such as chroma-therapy lights, custom interiors, sophisticated electronics packages, and more. And it’s all covered by the Limited Lifetime Warranty for residential use. Even commercial-level users enjoy a lifetime warranty.

3 Ways to Keep Your Bathroom Clean Longer

Content originally published and Shared from http://perfectbath.com

The household chore that we all probably hate most is cleaning the bathroom. It’s just so difficult to scrub stains once they’ve already built up. Don’t let your hard work go to waste by making your bathroom’s cleanliness last longer. Follow these amazing tips:

Take a little time to clean up your shower every day
Nothing helps delay mildew stains like a dry shower. Hang a squeegee over the shower head and make it a rule that the last one to take a shower wipes down the walls, tub, and shower doors. A couple extra minutes of work can really minimize cleaning time in the long-run.

You can also quickly zap moisture by opening a window and turning on the exhaust fan while showering. Leaving the door open, even a crack, helps it dissipate. And don’t forget to stretch the shower curtain open when it dries, too. Source: GoodHousekeeping

Tilt your head down when brushing your teeth
Well, I’ve always done it this way, but I see a lot of people who brush their teeth facing the mirror. You know what that does, though? It sends lots of little toothpaste bubbles on the mirror and everywhere on the countertop.

I’ve noticed that if I bow my head and keep it close to the sink, most of these bubbles end up in the sink and rinsed away. Silly? Maybe. But I find it saves me a lot of mirror-cleaning. Source: TheSpruce

Put soap in the flush tank
You can either add a piece of soap to your flush tank or drop one of the ready-made toilet cleaner bulbs into the tank. In this way, your toilet bowl is getting cleaned every time you flush. Soapy water is slippery, so it doesn’t allow the stains to stick. Source: BoldSky

So Flooring can be as unique as the individual user. That’s why, for 2018, DOMOTEX has chosen UNIQUE YOUNIVERSE as the exhibition’s keynote theme: it’s all about products and services that can be customised. In architecture, one can find many current examples where floor covering plays the main role. For example, in collaboration with Argentinian artist Alexandra Kehayoglou, the Dutch architectural studio MVRDV has covered the surfaces of a presentation room at the headquarters of a Taipei-based company with moss-green carpet. Featuring a camouflage pattern and different pile heights, the bespoke carpet is reminiscent of a meadow and not only covers the floor, but also the walls and the ceiling. The future will be individual At DOMOTEX, too, visitors will be able to experience such a gesamtkunstwerk in Hall 9: for Classen, Munich-based designer Konstantin Landuris will project Ludwig Mies van der Rohe’s famous Barcelona Pavilion into the future. Off-menu: exemplary restaurant and bar interiors | News | Architonic

We may be living in an increasingly atomised world – with record levels, in the West at least, of single-occupancy habitation (and record levels of loneliness) – and yet we fundamentally remain social animals. The way we come together with others to reinforce social bonds and underpin social identities continues to take place very often via the daily rituals of eating and drinking. You are what you eat, it’s sometimes said. But one might equally say: you eat so that you are. It makes sense therefore that, in spite of unprecedented levels of geopolitical uncertainty in the past few years, the global hospitality industry has shown itself to be rather resilient, with the restaurants and bars sector, in particular, proving buoyant – and providing excellent creative opportunities for interior architects and designers. The more troubling the times we live in, it seems, the greater the need to comfort ourselves through company. Factor in the forthcoming festive season, the apex of the… continue

Cardan evolution: new cardanic accent lighting | Industry News | Architonic

Modern shopping centres and stores are increasingly becoming spaces that offer genuine retail experiences. Light is now being used more and more to stimulate emotions and create brand identities. 3 Ways to Avoid Bathroom Condensation

Content originally published and Shared from http://perfectbath.com

A constantly moist environment leads to growth of mold and mildew—health hazards that you don’t want anywhere near your home. Preventing the presence of condensation in your bathroom helps get rid of these dangers. Here’s how:

Install an extractor fan
We produce an average of one liter of water a day just by breathing. You can, therefore, only imagine how much moisture a bathroom produces considering the frequency it is used and that most of its uses involve water. If this moisture is not let out, it will settle on cold surfaces and seep into little cracks, causing damp and mildew. The ideal way of preventing all this build-up is by having an extractor fan. When this is not possible, open the window until all the moisture dries off. Source: DoItYourself

Warm up the air
Turn up the thermostat a few degrees in your home to warm the bathroom air to a warmer, constant temperature. The warmer air will help to warm cool surfaces, such as mirrors and walls, reducing condensation. You can also use an electric towel rail or 120-watt tubular heater to warm your bathroom during the winter. These can help to keep your bathroom windows and walls above condensation temperature, are inexpensive to operate, and can be left on 24 hours a day. Keep your bathroom warmer, and less prone to condensation, by improving your window insulation. Replace single-pane windows with double or triple panes, and insulate your bathroom walls by injecting insulating material into poorly insulated walls. Source: HomeGuides.SFGate

Use a dehumidifier
Dehumidifiers take moisture from the air and collect it as water, so if you have one of these running whilst you use the bathroom you’ll get a big drop in condensation.

Unfortunately, dehumidifiers tend to be on the pricey side so only use them as a last resort.

Renting one for a few days would be your best option, and it will allow you to work out what’s really causing the problem. Source: DenGarden

Roll out the red carpet: Domotex 2018 | News | Architonic

Diminishing resources, a growing world population, lack of space – we need to face these developments and tackle them head on instead of airbrushing them out of the picture. It will take a massive effort from those involved – designers, manufacturers, consumers. In the future, it seems, all three will be equal partners. Migration to the city – by 2050, two thirds of humanity will be living in an urban environment – is leading to a changed awareness of the space in which we live and make our home. There will be less of this space for all of us. However, at the same time, this restriction in terms of quantity provides a major opportunity for applying greater quality to the design of space which is actually available to us. As a matter of fact, people’s growing sensitivity to their material environments is reflected in the increasing demand for more individualised products, tailor-made to the tastes and lifestyles of consumers. Fertile ground In line with its principal theme 'Un… continue

Toilet height is simply measured with a tape measure. The measurement is taken from the floor to the top of the seat. Heights vary, but more often they fall somewhere between 14 inches and 18 inches.

The standard toilets sit 14 inches. However the Chair Height Toilets or the Comfort Height Toilets – like Kohler refers to them will measure 15 inches or more. Many of them 16″+ are ADA compliant.

Standard toilets are ideal for people with smaller stature or average heights. On the other hand, Chair Height Toilets are often two inches higher than standard-height toilets. They are easier to use as too.

The previous lighting system dates back to the 1970s and mainly comprised halogen sources Our intervention was based on replacing obsolete lamp bodies with new LED solutions, achieving a significant energy-saving benefit. Only in the Galerie des Retables, were 29 18W spotlights used versus the previous 60 100W spotlights. All installed products are equipped with special ultra HD diodes, developed in partnership with Cree. These diodes are characterised by a high colour performance index, which is of crucial importance for ensuring the full colour range. A visible and significant… continue

Looking forward: Susanne Schmidhuber on Domotex 2018 | Fairs | Architonic

UNIQUE YOUNIVERSE is the keynote theme of Domotex 2018, mirroring the desire for individuality that has led to products and services being increasingly personalised. In collaboration with Munich-based brand experience agency Schmidhuber, Domotex has conceived the multi-facetted Framing Trends experience realm located in Hall 9: exhibitors, students and artists have designed special displays playing with the theme of individualisation. The aim is to offer visitors an emotionally appealing and inspiring environment. Susanne Schmidhuber, founder and partner of Schmidhuber who have developed the new concept, answers questions and talks about contemporary trade exhibition design: Why is it more important than ever for trade exhibitions to take a curatorial approach? You have to offer additional value for visitors. These days, there are more and more events covering similar themes, but we only have a limited amount of time and therefore we have to make a choice. That’s why a tra… continue

From furniture to cars to hotel brands and beyond, the award-winning, Milan-based architect and designer’s collaborations read like a roll call of design excellence. Joint ventures: NEXT architects | News | Architonic

Architonic caught up with Michel Schreinemachers, partner at Dutch architectural office NEXT, at this year's of the World Architecture Festival in Berlin to talk about the engineering challenges and creative opportunities of designing bridges. Congratulations on making the WAF shortlist with Lucky Knot bridge! How did you square the structure's engineering requirements with its expressive form? Which did you consider first – the utilitarian or the rhetorical? We knew the bridge had to cross the water and connect at three points – at the riverbank, the street level, and the ring road. To these multiple spans, we added cross connections, which ultimately informed the bridge’s shape and won us the brief. The mayor chose the design because it refers to a Chinese knot, a symbol of safety, prosperity and fortune. It registers immediately as something positive. NEXT has realised a number of bridges, both in the Netherlands and around the world. Was it conscious decision to pursue… continue

The Future is Urban: Heimtextil 2018 | Fairs | Architonic

Seven international trend agencies collacted results from market research with the latest global design developments. Trend researchers from Denmark, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Japan, the Netherlands and the USA have made it their aim to analyse developments in materials and textures, colours and patterns from all four corners of the world and determine the stylistic design themes. At the end of the process, a mutual, globally applicable trend prognosis for the coming 18 months will be agreed upon and presented in the Heimtextil Trendbook and also the "Theme Park" during Heimtextil itself. The „Theme Park“ is an elaborately designed presentation in hall 6.0. It will incorporate market-defining themes and present solutions for the textile interior of tomorrow. For Heimtextil 2018, the British design studio FranklinTill will take on the leading role in implementing the book and the “Theme Park”.
